Rick Newell, Founder, Route 21. August 19th, 2025
At this meeting, we welcomed Rick Newell, Executive Director and Founder of Route 21. Rick shared his journey from a career in technology to creating impactful mentoring programs for youth, first with the M.U.S.T. program and now with Route 21, which supports some of the most vulnerable young people in foster care.
Thank you, Rick, for your inspiring work and for reminding us of the power of mentorship and positive role models.

Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01)
U.S. Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, represents Washington’s 1st Congressional District, which includes parts of King and Snohomish Counties.
Before being elected to Congress, Suzan served as Director of the Washington State Department of Revenue. Before that, she spent 12 years at Microsoft and over a decade as a successful executive and entrepreneur.
Suzan is a graduate of Reed College and earned an MBA from the University of Washington.
Suzan and her husband, Kurt DelBene, have two children, a granddaughter, and a dog named Reily.

Celeste founded Manos Unidas International in 2014 as a primary fundraising arm and oversight organization for Manos Unidas Peru. Together with her father David Marion and colleague Lawson Baker, MUI flourished into a professional board of directors leading the way for the future of Manos Unidas Peru and beyond. Celeste has served as MUI’s Executive Director since its inception.

Shannon also opened, developed, and managed TriNet VCO’s first successful branch office (in Bellevue, Washington), after which she added managing four other branch offices around the country. She works effectively with executive teams and boards of directors to ensure that all HR efforts and results are aligned with corporate values and organizational objectives.
